Brushing daily is a critical piece to a happy and healthy smile. When you brush your teeth daily not only are you keeping your teeth clean, but you are also stimulating your gums and helping keep them healthy and firm. If you can, brushing your teeth immediately after eating is ideal – but at the very least you should be brushing twice daily.
Brushing correctly only takes a few minutes, so make sure and set aside that time daily for this important task. Here are some basic tips on how you can brush your teeth effectively:
- Hold the brush on an angle towards the gums.
- Brush in a sweeping motion so the the brush goes over the gums and teeth toward the biting surface.
- Work in sections brushing each part of the jaw separately. When on the upper teeth make sure you are brushing downward and on the lower teeth brush upward.
- When brushing the chewing surfaces of the teeth do so in a circular scrubbing motion.
- Brush each section on average around 10 times.
- Make sure you are also brushing the inner surfaces of the teeth.
